Hi friends! I almost didn’t do a Blog post this week because I didn’t have any sewing projects to share with you, I haven’t really been sewing lately as I’ve been busy doing some Cricut projects! We’re going on another Friend’s Weekend Getaway so I made some fun little gifts to give them! I’d share them with you but I’m not sure if this will be read by any of them so I’m keeping it top secret lol!
I will share one super quick project I used my Cricut for though, cause it turned out so good!
When we redid our kitchen recently, I purchased a set of refillable glass bottles to hold dish soap and hand soap. They’re great, I love how they look, or I did, until this happened….

I cleaned them too many times I guess cause I wiped the words right off of them lol! I didn’t pay very much for them but I still think the words should have lasted a bit longer! Anyway, after just a few minutes with my Cricut, we have new and, if I do say so myself, improved bottles!

How fun is that!!! I was going tobdo white and then decided on yellow for a pop of colour and I think they turned out awesome!
Ok so now on to the actual blog topic, which as I said in the title, is something “sewing adjacent “!
So recently Jeff and I were doing some tidying and rearranging in our basement to make room for a new printer, and I don’t know if this also happens in your household or not, but we start one seemingly little job and quite quickly, it escalates into something much bigger lol!
At first we were going to put the printer on one of my fabric shelves, which is where our old one was, but the new one is bigger so I would have needed to clear off more room. No problem, I could do that. Jeff ended up finding a better location for it so no need for me to clean the shelves….except now that thought was in my head so yup, the shelf cleaning began, but also not just the shelves, but the whole entire area, so under the shelves, on top of the shelves, across from the shelves, next to the shelves…..nothing was safe lol!
Sadly I didn’t take a before pic because I didn’t know how big of a change there was actually going to be lol! I’m going to go through some pics and see if I can find a pic of the shelves that I took at some point, that will at least give you an idea of what I started with!

Whew, that took some searching but I found a couple! This doesn’t show below the shelves but there was a couple of totes, a storage container, sewing machine cases, etc. And now, the after, and I’ll point out all the smaller details you might not notice right away!

Ok first off, isn’t that quite the transformation!! I’m actually shocked all over again now that I see the before and after almost side by side!
I ended up with a garbage bag full of fabric that I donated to Goodwill for someone else to appreciate and enjoy more than I did, and the rest was just refolded and restacked!
I also brought over an old filing cabinet so I can keep all my patterns in one dedicated space instead of some here and some there! I went through the bins too and realized one was filled with household stuff from our oldest son’s apartment….from 6 years ago lol! Needless to say, that stuff was donated or trashed lol! The other one was a treasure trove of American Girl doll accessories and clothing! We moved that one to our actual storage closet and replaced it with another tote that I’m storing some of the bags I’ve made over the years in until I can come up with a way to display them.
Once the reorganizing was done, I proceeded to make a couple of things with my Cricut. For a fun touch, I cut some big letters and ran the phrase FABRIC COLLECTION on the vertical post in a nice bright purple! Next I set about working on the fiing cabinet. After giving it a good wash and then made a PATTERNS label for it. The biggest part of this project is only visible when you open up the drawer….

…I made all the file tabs for it! This Cricut never stops amazing me with it’s capabilities! Not only did it do the perfect printing for me, but it also cut the tabs to the exact size I needed!
So now it’s been a few months since I did this and I’m proud to report that the shelves still look exact the same! Those 2 shelves are still empty and I’m finding that it’s a useful space to be able to do fabric matching or other tasks. Perhaps eventually they’ll get filled up but I’m in no hurry to do so!
Well friends, that’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed my sewing adjacent projects! Like I said, I alway think that this blog HAS to be about sewing projects but perhaps I need to broaden my opinion because it was so nice to share this with you!
I’d love to know if you too have a Cricut, or similar type of cutting machine, and if you love it as much as I do! What type of projects do you make?
For now friends, I shall bid you adieu and wish you all a wonderful week! Cheers!

I bought an Ikea rail with hooks to display my bags. I also bought the wall hung display boxes.

What great ideas, I’ll definitely look into those options and see if that works for the space I want to put them! Thank you so much!
