I heard someone say the other day that January seemed like 150 days and February seemed like 2…maybe she had a point because somehow here we are in March!!
Our son Jordon was here from BC on a work trip for what was supposed to be 2 weeks but ended up being almost 3 due to Mother Nature! He ended up leaving on Family Day, but before his flight, our entire little family was able to spend some time together and it was amazing! I don’t always think about pulling my camera out at pivotal moments like that, but I’m thankful I did this time, and I’d love to share this memory with you too!

Because of his visit and the bout of sadness after he left, which I fully expected knowing me lol, as well as some health challenges I’m addressing, I haven’t spent hardly a second in my sewing room! When I did find my way in there, I managed to finish 2 projects but they each took waaaaayyyy longer than they should have lol! Oh well…a win is a win!!
So one of those projects was a new purse for me because, well, why not lol! One of my favourite bag designers, Linds Handmade Designs, recently released a new bag pattern and honestly I wasn’t going to even get it because one of the elements of it included the dreaded “binding”, and if I see that a pattern has that, I usually skip it! This time however, she kept stressing about a “new way of doing binding that made it so easy”! I was intrigued, maybe this new method, whatever it was, would change my mind about binding, but was it worth it to me, this wS my internal debate lol! I’d add the pattern to my cart, get to the checkout process and then change my mind again lol! I waited till almost the last minute of the introductory sale price before I finally actually purchased it, and once I purchased it, I knew I should make it right away or, knowing me, I’d keep putting it off because of that binding!

This is the bag, The Rae Dual Zip Crossbody! It’s very different from any other bag I’ve ever made, which is why I was drawn to it! I loved the 2 separate compartments, but also that it’s not a huge bag because I don’t carry much in my bags!
So somewhat hesitantly, I got under way lol! Lindsay, the designer, really suggested using quilt cottons for this bag unless you have an industrial machine, and while Judi is a powerhouse and handles everything I throw at her, I decided to believe that the designer knows what she’s talking about so quilt cottons it was for me!
Lindsay provides free videos along with well written patterns so using both of those valuable resources, I began the journey, trying hard to not dread the upcoming binding step lol! I thoroughly enjoyed the unique construction of the bag, and I even survived the binding lol! It’s still not my preferred way to finish off a bag, I just think it never looks as nice and clean as a “birthed” bag….and I stress, that’s just my opinion and personal preference!!
Ok, it’s now the best time of the blog…when I share the pic of my finished bag lol!

How fun is she! I really love how these super fun, now-discontined, fabrics really added such interest to this bag! Like I said before, it’s not a huge bag but it seems bigger because of the 2 compartments and the 2 zipper pockets, one of which is hidden on the front!
This bag seems like spring to me so soon enough I’ll be breaking her out of the house….but of course she needs a matching wallet…right?!? That’s for next time so you better come on back next week to see what I ended up making, and let me just tell you…I amazed myself by this one!!!!!
That’s all for now my friends….have an amazing week!
