Wee Little One!

I’m always drawn to “wee” things, especially if they’re “wee and mighty”! I love puppies, baby animals, I love little vehicles, tiny homes (less cleaning lol), delicate jewelry, and handbags! These cute little pill-box purses are my absolute favourite, there’s just something so sweet about them that I can’t help but gush over! Do I own any? No lol! As much as I absolutely adore them, to me they aren’t very practical for every day use! I do have a few wristlets I could use if I just needed something minimal for some particular reason but I find them almost more cumbersome to carry than an actual purse!

There is one exception to this for me, though, and that’s when it comes to a wallet! I quite prefer a small compact wallet that just holds the basics…a couple of cards and ID, and of course, some actual cash and change, I am still old-school and feel more comfortable have some on me, just in case lol! One of the most popular wallets around is the NCW (Necessary Clutch Wallet) by Emmaline Bags….. I’m not sure I’ve ever met a bag maker that hasn’t made one, or 50 lol, well, except for me! I own the pattern and one day I’ll make it just so I can say I’ve actually made it, and then I’ll gift it to a friend because I would literally have no use for it lol! It holds 12 cards!! That’s so crazy to me, I carry maybe 6, and that’s probably including ones I don’t need to carry lol! Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not bashing that pattern, I think it’s an awesome wallet, it’s just not for me!

So what is the perfect wallet for me? I have a couple that I make on repeat but I recently found a new one that is so tiny and yet has a couple unique features that make it seem bigger than it is!

Introducing my version of the super cute Pollies Pocket by Sewfisticated Craft Designs! She certainly is a cutie, especially with my favourite Nova My Hippos Don’t Lie Tula Pink fabric lol! It’s actually designed to be worn with a lanyard but I didn’t need that so I just left off the hardware!

So there she is, looking all cute but let me now share with you the amazing things about this little wallet:

  • there’s a clear vinyl zippered pocket on the front that I will use for my coins so I know exactly what I have for change!
  • on the back there is a slip pocket that is the perfect size for your cards/ID and you don’t have to worry about them falling out because there is a snap closure!
  • now here’s probably the biggest surprise of all…..also on the back is a little fold over pocket that is made to store, are you ready for this…..kleenex!!!!!!!! Yes, it’s true, it’s a little pocket with overlapping flaps and you can easily pull out a tissue! It’s absolutely crazy! If you don’t think you want a tissue pocket, you could of course just make another shorter slip pocket, or just leave it off altogether, the choice is yours but honestly, why not do it! It doesn’t get in the way of anything and then you’ll always be prepared for any tissue requiring situation lol!

This was a fun little sew and goes together so easily! The written instructions were great as well as there is an included YouTube video link if that’s your preference! Jess OklaRoots also does a video tutorial but I will say that I’d recommend you definitely watch her entire video before sewing along with it as she does make a couple of errors, which she recognizes and mentions later on but if you go ahead and just cut the pieces as she tells you too, you won’t be able to fix them, you’ll be starting over (go ahead, ask me how I know lol!)! She did have a great tip on doing that vinyl pocket on the front so I’d definitely check out the video for that part for sure!

If you remember in last week’s Blog post, I shared my clear vinyl “Could I BE Any Clearer” Stadium Bag by Sincerely, Jen Patterns and I specifically made this wallet to be carried in that bag, I mean seriously, how cute will it be to see this little hippo peaking out lol!

Now there’s just one more thing I have to share about this wallet, there’s another hidden surprise that you can’t really see, I mean you can see it, you just don’t know what you’re seeing lol! See all those beautiful stitches created with my lovely Glide thread? Well, they’re even more special, here’s another picture of the back, but in a different “light” lol…….

Whatttttt!!!! Yes sir-eeee! There at work is the magical and amazing Luminary Glide thread! As you can see, it’s their Glow in the Dark thread, and it glows by just good old regular light, no black light required! After being exposed to light for just a few minutes, it’ll glow for up to 8 hours!! This is so cute in this little project but could you even imagine this on a quilt! Spectacular! Also, because this is a bit more of an expensive thread, I chose to just use regular White Glide thread in my bobbin and it worked out perfectly! Last time I checked, we only had 2 left so if you want one, I wouldn’t wait too long!

I’m so excited to use this cute little set when we head off to the MLB Blue Jays baseball game in a few weeks…..but I’m thinking I should also be using it this Friday when we go to the movies to see a certain movie…..have a look at the set again, are you getting any particular vibes from the colour combinations I chose lol?!?

I hope you have a great week and take some time to enjoy doing something you love! Cheers my friends!
