All Fixed Up!

Wow, another weekend has come and gone….I don’t like it lol! Since we’ve become so involved in going to the London Major ball games, the weekends are feeling even shorter! There is quite often 2 games a weekend, leaving us only one “free” day….and can you guess what we do on that so called free day?!? CLEAN ugggggggg, which is so annoying! Why can’t we just win the lottery and have a live-in house cleaner….and a chef, and my very own hairdresser, and while we’re at it, I’ll need some help with the 50 pugs I’m going to have lol!! Oh boy, I can sure dream can’t I lol!

Oh well, until that happens, on we go with doing it ourselves! So Jeff asked me what I wanted to do Saturday and when I told him my cleaning plans, he suggested we wait and do it the next day and just enjoy ourselves for the day. Well, it didn’t take much to convince me so off I went to my sewing room and guess what I decided to do there….CLEAN lol!!!! I have been having so much fun sewing the harnesses that I had let my space get quite messy and we already know that that doesn’t make for a happy Shawna so the tidying and of course, some rearranging commenced! Since I was taking down all my collectible stuff to dust anyway, it seemed like a good time to move stuff around and add in, or remove stuff, a general little face-lift basically lol! I didn’t take any before pics but I’ve shared those before so I’ll just share a few of the fun little “after” pics!

Geez, I just love my space!!!! But wait, there is a reason for this blog, there was one project I made for my space while I was working on it! Short story time, as per norm lol…..so I’m not sure if I ever told you but Melissa gave me an amazing Christmas gift last year, something I have wanted for years and apparently I told her about it in a conversation we were having and said to herself, “that’s what I’m going to get her for Christmas!”….and she did…….

eeeekkkk…my very own Oliso Iron in my favourite colour of purple!!! I was absolutely stunned when I opened it, it was so generous and so thoughtful, there may have been a tear or two shed! Anyway….with this new amazing iron, I realized it was time to up my ironing area and that would start with a new ironing board, a full size one since the one I had was quite small! This time I do have a before and after to share! So here’s before…..

and after….

You can see that it’s definitely “grown up” lol! It’s now perfect for my needs, well, after I fixed one little issue, which is already done in this picture but you wouldn’t know so I’ll just tell you!

When I got this new ironing board, I was so excited to get one with that little added shelf on the end where you can set your iron, but there was one little issue, it has this open area where a “regular” iron could sit comfortably, however, it doesn’t really work with an Oliso iron because if you don’t sit the iron exactly in the right spot, it kind of falls through! I wasn’t sure what to do with it and once again, Jeff to the rescue lol! He looked at it and said, “I’ll cut you a piece of wood that size that you can set your iron on”! Ahhhhh, perfect idea!!!! In the meantime, I put a piece of sturdy cardboard in there and it did the trick for the 6 months I’ve had it!

So while I was working away yesterday, I asked Jeff if he had any wood to finally make the actual piece and within seconds, it was in my hands! So could I have just set the wood in there and called it a day? Definitely. Is that what I actually did? Definitely not lol!

I still had the ironing board cover I had made for my previous board so I cut a rough shape of the wood and found a piece of fabric that somewhat matched my awesome Oliso cover (we all know I love a theme, what can I say loll), stapled it onto the wood and voila, project accomplished!

Isn’t that so fun!!! And what’s also pretty cool is that it is completely removable and since I used the batting from the old cover, it is now a portable mini ironing board!

Obviously I still need to beautify the bottom side of it, which I think I will do by gluing on a piece of felt, that way I won’t have any raw edges to worry about like I would if I used fabric. I have old vinyl that I could use but I think the lightness of the felt will work best with glue. If you have another idea, let me know, I’m open to any suggestions!

Well, that’s all for now my friends, I hope you enjoyed reading this very picture filled post lol! I’ve been thinking for awhile that I’d like to have a portable ironing mat, and while this isn’t exactly what I was envisioning, I’m sure glad it worked out!

Wishing you all an amazing week! Take care of yourselves!
