Hello friends! It’s time for another transformation….another case of something starting off with a purpose that doesn’t work for me and then I transform it into something that will work for me! Quite honestly, I love these challenges, it makes me look at all sorts of items with a whole new perspective, makes me realize that just because an apple is an apple, that doesn’t mean it can’t also be an orange…..no wait, that doesn’t make any sense at all but hopefully you know what I’m trying to get at lol!
I think it’ll actually be easier to show you an example of what I’m talking about lol…..I started out with the first pic, and transformed it into the 2nd picture:

I’ve totally shared this with you already so I won’t go into all the details, I’ll just remind you that this was a free shirt received at one of the ball games we go to since the shirt was way too small for me, I decided to cut it up and use the logo on a bag…..and I loved it so much I went on to make a larger tote bag for myself and then a 3rd one for a friend whose son was on the team!

It’s honestly so fun to repurpose these shirts, heck, any favourite shirt or sweater or blanket, almost anything would work! You might have to do a little finagling to get it to work where you want it to, but it’s so worth it in the end!
Sooooo guess who did it again lol, but on a much smaller scale this time lol?!? You see, obviously I carry one of these bags to every game, usually the larger tote because I leave it packed and ready to go for every game, stuffed with everything I need including a sweater and a blanket, but I always have to take my wallet out of my purse and put it in the bag, which is easy to do….but why not just make a new one that is also baseball themed and that can just stay in the bag all the time?!? I mean, it seems crazy that I haven’t already done it really lol!
So I went to the team store and searched through all the available items until I found something with the smallest logo, and this is what I found….

….and here’s where I ended up……

OMG…..I’ll never not squeal in delight when I see these “after” pictures, I just can’t help it lol!
This pattern is an oldie but a goodie, the Clara Companion Phone & Wallet Wristlet by RLR Creations Sewing Patterns! I have quite a few RLR patterns and I always enjoy making them, they’re well written and I’m pretty sure there’s usually a video to accompany them, maybe not from the designer but someone will load one to YouTube.
I had a few requirements that I wanted the wallet to have: a few card slots to hold our season’s passes, a coin section (it costs a toonie to park so we always have lots and they get heavy in pants pockets lol), a cash section (ball park is cash only so need bills), a strap would be a nice bonus in case I just carry it instead of my whole tote bag, and finally, of course, it needs to fit the logo! This pattern fulfilled all those things so it was the winner!
This is a knit tank top, so after I cut out the logo and any other parts I wanted to use, I interfaced them with 2 layers of FF01SW, the Camelot version of SF101, to give them more structure which is more suitable for bagmaking!
This was a lot of fun to make, and a fairly quick sew! I was also glad to finally use that super fun zipper that I’ve had for awhile! I’ve already loaded it up and thrown it in the bag ready to go! It will be nice to have everything I need in one dedicated wallet, then I’m not worrying that I forgot my wallet which has the passes in it!

I should also tell you that this “series” is not over as I have 2 more projects planned using team logos so stay tuned for those!!
I hope you all have an amazing week! Cheers friends!
Shawna

This is SUCH a fabulous project Shawna! I loved the outside a lot, but then I saw the lining, and that just put the wallet over the top!

Thank you so much, that’s so kind of you! I think that was the last bit of that fabric that I used up so I’ll have to go hunting for something similar cause it was great! Thanks so much again!
