Matchy-Matchy!

We all know how much I love making bags/purses, it’s truly my passion! The amount of joy I feel when I finish a bag is incredible, there’s nothing like the feeling of “wow, I just made that”….and of course, that’s the best case scenario isn’t it lol!

But it’s not until I finish a set of a bag and a matching wallet that I truly feel like, “there, now that’s done”, like it just doesn’t feel 100% complete until then! That does sound kind of silly, I realize that, but you go ahead and tell my brain otherwise lol!

So last week I shared the bag I just completed, and for a refresher, here she is again….

And if you read that post, first off let me thank you, and secondly let me remind you that I was already planning then what wallet I would make lol!

As I mentioned, there was a wallet by Sincerely, Jenn, the same designer as the bag, that I was thinking about trying….and I did!

This is her Vestibule Wallet and I think what draws me to it the most is the sleek and thin design. I will say the one thing I don’t absolutely love about it is the raw edges. I’ll use the same vinyl as I did in the purse, so I know the raw edge is a dingy grey-ish colour but I’m hoping that there’s not enough showing that it will bother me! We shall see, right? In case I’ve confused you because in this pic, you see the edges are the same colour as the vinyl, but that’s because it’s finished off with a technique called Edge Painting, and it’s exactly what it sounds like! You can purchase these special paints to do this but that isn’t really something I’m interested in doing so, as I said, we’ll see how mine turns out lol!

Now the pattern does suggest using a waterproof canvas for the lining, and I could have used the same one I used in the bag but I didn’t have enough left over, and remember my nightmare of the fraying, well could you imagine how smaller pieces would fray lol, nope, I don’t think I would have used it even if I did have enough! I decided to just use the same Large Floral Midnight Garden cotton that I used instead bag since I did have enough left of it, and I interfaced it with the FF01SW Behind the Seams Fusible Woven Interfacing again.

Also, included with this pattern are SVG files sooooo guess who didnt have to physically cut any pattern pieces?!?

If you have a Cricut, or any other cutting machine, you should definitely see if it’s capable of cutting your pattern pieces because it takes so much time off of your prep! I even interface my fabrics before I cut them and my Cricut has no problem cutting through the layers! Honestly, it’s such a game changer! I forgot, I did have to cut one piece by hand because it was too big for Cricut but that was no problem at all!

Ok so are you ready to see my finished wallet?!? I sure hope so cause here she is…..

Like I said, nice and sleek! And just to have a little more “fun”, and since my Cricut was all nice and warmed up, I decided to ask her to cut a monogram of my initials using some Permanent Vinyl! I honestly have no idea if it will actually stay there permanently, as the name would suggest, or if it starts to come off from the rubbing of taking it in and out of my bag, but even if it doesn’t, I can just take it off!

I did make a couple of changes to the pattern to make it suit my needs a bit more. First off, I only added one panel of card slots instead of 2 that it asks for. That means I have 6 card slots instead of 12, and I did that because I do not carry 12 cards nor do I want to lol! I actually carry 6 cards and then a couple of gift cards so once I use them, I won’t need them anymore! I also chose to not ad the clear vinyl ID pocket as I just prefer to keep my license in one of the 6 slots. It’s still close at hand if needed, I’m just not a huge fan of those little clear vinyl pockets, it’s just a personal preference kind of thing!

And finally, what you’ve all been waiting for….the complete set together!

See, it just looks so….finished lol! Oh, and what did I decided to do with the raw vinyl edges? Well…..I got out my trusty permanent marker and coloured those suckers in lol!

It’s really hard to tell, and I didn’t take a pic of the “before” but I’m ok with this, it’s not perfect but if someone wants to look that closely at it, they can go for it lol!

Well friends, that’s another blog in the books! I hope you enjoyed our time together, I know I sure did, as always, I appreciate you so! I’m wishing you a wonderful week ahead and hope you find some time to do something nice just for you! Cheers!
