Spring has sprung, thank goodness! Temperatures are finally warming up and, of course, bringing those “April showers” a few days early but I’ll take the rain over snow, no question!
Spring also means it’s time for the Easter Bunny’s big day so of course I had to change my seasonal decor as well, just to make sure he knows who’s house he’s at lol!

In the past I made a couple of different Easter table runners and I love bringing them out each year! First off, I made a Braided Twist one using some of my favourite Easter prints that we had in the shop at the time.

This project left me with a few scraps that I tucked away until I could find a way to use them! Eventually I did, and I shared about it in a previous blog post, which I’m going to share again because it’s such a good scrap buster, and that’s something we can all use I think!
I found a free pattern on the Robert Kaufman Fabrics website that I thought would be a fun make, and not something I would normally make! Here’s a bit of what I wrote in my original post!

As soon as I saw these placemats I knew this was the perfect project because I could use 6 different prints instead of having to decide on just one or two! And then I had an awesome idea….what if I made it reversible and used St. Patrick’s Day fabrics for the other side!!!!!!!!! My goodness, I blew my own mind with that idea lol!

Another great thing about this pattern is that you just need small amounts of fabric so it’s a great scrap buster! So with fabrics gathered, I printed out the pattern, got everything ironed and off I went, slightly nervous but excited to try such a new project! I found the instructions very easy to follow thankfully and before I knew it, I had the 2 panels done! Using Odif 505 Basting Spray, I sandwiched Quilter’s Dream 120″ Polyester Batting in between them and then just did some random free motion quilting to secure the panels together. After that, all I needed to do was apply binding to the raw edges, but this step wasn’t covered in the instructions. This isn’t a skill I use very often, except when doing ByAnnie projects so that’s exactly where I headed for a refresher course! She has a free tutorial called Beautiful Bindings that I find very helpful so I sewed my binding on with her following her steps and bam…..I finished the cutest little festive placemat!

I originally made this in 2024 so this year is the 3rd year I’m using them and they still look brand new! Yes, I’m only using them for about a month each time but in that month I’m probably laundering them 3 times at least. This is why, in my humble opinion, you should use quality fabrics, they stand the test of time and will last for many years!
Before I leave you, I thought I’d show you my little Easter setup on my dining room buffet.

I’m a wee bit proud of that gnome and bunny because….I made it!! It was a craft class my friend Kim and I attended. All the pieces are wood and were pre-cut for us but we had to paint everything and then assemble it how we wanted….and just like my placemat is double-sided, so is my gnome! I’ll share the other side with you in the very near future, don’t you worry lol!
Wishing you all an amazing week and a very happy Easter weekend if you celebrate! Cheers friends!

That’s a really cute placemat – it’s given my a great idea for placemats for Meals on Wheels! I can use fall fabrics on one side for Thanksgiving and Christmas fabrics on the other! I’m off to check out the pattern….
