Well hello there to all of you and yes, it’s true….I’m back lol!!! I obviously took a few weeks off from Blog writing and just soaked up all the family time I could, and even took a few days just for me…..to do absolutely nothing….at all lol!! I mean, I guess “nothing” is an exaggeration because I did get up in the morning, shower and then put on clean pajamas all before making my way to the couch to begin full days of binging all the tv shows and movies I possible could lol! There were some baking days, some sewing days but mostly lots of couch days!!
I’m not going to lie to you and say that I regret any of it!! There was days the dishes just got stacked in the sink, days that chips and dip were our dinner and the only form of exercise was the walk to the fridge to get more snacks and back to the couch….but again, not one iota of regret! In fact….I truly hope some of you had the exact same experience!! We all work so hard that sometimes you just have to let it all go and soak in all the “nothingness” that you possibly can!
You might have noticed that I did say there was some sewing days, right? Well there certainly was and I’m pleased to report that they were very successful and I got almost all my “Christmas 2020 Projects” completed:
I’m very proud of all my projects and I’m excited to share them all with you, a “Christmas 2020 Projects Roundup” if you will!!
These were all so much fun and went exactly as planned! And for those who are really on the ball, you’ll see there’s a few pics in there that weren’t on my list cause we all know there’s those last minute requests that we just can’t say no to lol! Some I’ve already shared with you but you may have spotted that there is indeed one that I’ve never shared before and that’s because it was my first time making it!
How much fun is this bag! We are all huge “Office” fans and have each seen all the seasons multiple times so when this fabric line came in to Funky Monkey Fabrics, it was a no brainer that I’d be putting some in my cart! I also knew exactly what I wanted to make, not exactly what pattern but I had an idea of where to look!
My son and daughter-in-law have one of the siblings to my Pug Norman, they call her Prudence, and she is their sweet and spoiled “fur-baby”! They love dressing her in trendy little coats and sweaters so she’s always looking pretty spiffy while keeping warm, and they themselves like to always look their best too….which is why it has always been surprising to me that when they take Prudence on an outing, they put her accessories that she may need such as food, water, baggies, treats, etc., into a ripped and ragged reusable grocery bag lol!! Even as I’m typing this, the song “one of these things is not like the other” is going through my head lol! So this is exactly what I wanted to use “The Office” fabric for…..a reusable grocery bag/everything Prudence needs bag, and it turned out better than I had hoped!
I know you’ve heard me mention this before, but one of my favourite sites to look for free patterns from is “Sew Can She” and yet again, I wasn’t disappointed! There was several to chose from but I ultimately decided on “The Picnic Tote” as it had absolutely everything I was looking for! I basically wanted to duplicate what they had…only make it waaaayyyy better lol!
The only thing I altered from the pattern was that I used our webbing for the straps instead of making them out of fabric because, well, honestly why make them when I can buy something just as good, if not better!
I was so excited for them to open the gift and they absolutely loved it! I didn’t even have my phone with me so I don’t have any pictures of Prudence with her new bag but I will be getting that pic once our quarantine is over and we can see them again!
How did your handmade gifts go over? Was everything a “hit” or was there some “misses”, cause we all know that not everyone appreciates our hard work sometimes!!! You’re in a safe space here to talk about it, and you know we’ll all support you and show you the true appreciation you deserve!
Wishing you all a great week…..stay home, stay safe….and sew on!!
